At Teased By Arthon, we know: a wig shouldn't just be beautiful...
it also needs to fit perfectly.
Many wigs come in a standard size, which sometimes makes them a bit too loose. Do you notice your wig shifting, not fitting snugly, or feeling unstable? Then your cap is probably a little too big.
Don't stress, you can easily adjust this for a secure and comfortable fit.
Why the right fit is important
A well-fitting wig:
-
Looks more natural and seamless
-
Stays securely in place (no slipping or constant adjusting)
-
Extends the lifespan of your wig
1. Adjust the straps
Most wigs have adjustable straps at the back.
- Tighten them by hooking them to a shorter setting
- Make sure both sides are even
- Test: snug, but not too tight
Perfect if your wig is only slightly too big
2. Add an elastic band
Want a more custom fit? Then this is a game-changer.
- Use an elastic band about 1-2 cm wide
- Sew it from ear to ear on the inside of the wig
- This will pull the cap tighter against your head
Ideal for drag, performances, and long days
3. Make the cap smaller with needle and thread
Is your wig clearly too big? You can adjust it like clothing.
- Turn the wig inside out
- Gather excess fabric (at the back or side)
- Sew small pleats (darts)
- Test the fit
Be careful with lace fronts, avoid the lace itself
4. Extra grip & base
Sometimes the issue isn't the wig, but the base.
- Use a wig grip band to prevent slipping
- Wear a wig cap under your wig
- Combine both for maximum hold
What NOT to do
-
Do not cut lace or wefts
-
Do not stretch elastic too much
-
Do not sew through the lace front

Whether you're a queen on stage or just want your daily glam, a well-fitting wig makes all the difference.
With small adjustments, you can transform your wig into a perfect, secure, and comfortable fit without losing your style.
Perfect fit. Perfect slay.
